How do you know if you are on a secure website?

There is an S after "http" in the URL, there is a lock icon to the left of the URL indicating it's secure, the website has a privacy policy, and contact information is trustworthy.

It doesn't ask for my personal information.

If a friend has sent me the link.

The site looks professional in appearance.
